I $hit out something that looked just like that the other day. I didn't call it $hit though, I called it a rose but no one beleived me. I swear it looked exactly like that!!
[:o] yeah, I know, I'm too used to typing E30 I guess.... but I still think Mike's 318is is one of the sweetest E36... not just because it look cool, but because he didn't buy it looking like that. He's done a lot of work on it himself. He didn't just slap a set of rims on it and call it...
No problem Doughnut, but what happened to sean100473? He was the guy who asked about this stuff in the first place. Oh well. Like I said, not a problem... I learned something myself.
If you don't like the look of it sitting high, then I guarantee that you'll like the look of it lowered on 18's. The car is almost 9 years old, so it's probably time for some new suspension components anyways. Look at my 5er... the E34 look crappy with the stock ride height and 15" rims, but...
Sorry they're a bit fuzzy... kinda hard to get a good picture of such a small part. Hopefully that's good enough. If you need a better pic, let me know, maybe I can try a few more times... already took about a dozen pics. Maybe I'll try scanning it for you.
a coolant flush would be a good idea, and should be done every couple years anyways... even though half of your coolant is new after that job. Probably should have been done before putting the new rad in. oh well, I'm sure it's no big deal... nice job you did though. I've never done a water...
Here's the gauge cluster out:
Pry the needle off carefully, but use force.
Undo the two small screws (don't lose them!), and off come the gauges.
and here are the two peices:
Just make sure that when you are removing your instrument cluster from the car, that you put a towel on the steering...
Okay, I've done it. I've popped the needle off of an old speedometer from an 86 325e (with 453726km's on it!!) the first time I popped it off the whole needle including it's shaft came off. I put it back on and it still had it's full range of motion with no rubbing on the face. I took it off...
Is there such a thing as "ultra performance allseason"? If it's "all season", it's not going to be ultra high performance... I wouldn't worry at all about the sensors staying on... the car won't know the difference.
This sounds like it's out of nowhere, but there's a reason you're asking. What's the problem? Do you think there is a problem with your VANOS? (Rattling or something?... not your chain guide or chain tensioner?) I don't know if there is a VANOS solenoid.... I'm really of no help.
I've tried to take my needles off one of my spare gauges (actually all four), and I was unsucessful. I'm not sure how they're supposed to go on, but I'm assuming you have to take the needle off, and remove the two tiny screws to take the old faces off. I think those works better for E36...
