I know the valves on the 325e's need adjusting every 40,000kms or so (I don't remember the exact intervals). Kinda makes them sound like a diesel. I've never hear one that sounds that bad though.

...and as far as I know, you have two fuel tanks... so it might be the rubber line between the main tank, and the expansion tank... heck, you might just have a hole in the top of your tank... it is almost 30 years old.
