Your best bet might be to have it plugged in to a code reader and see if the MAF and o2 sensors are giving you a good mix.... but it sounds to me like you're missfiring, and burning oil because of bad vavle seals.... A clogged cat is definately something to look into. When you say it smokes...

I can't say for sure if it's a direct swap, but as far as I know, you will need to use M3 rotors, which means a 5 bolt patern, which means M3 5 bolt hubs (wheel bearings), M3 caliper bracket, M3 pads, and 5 bolt rims.

If it's the spark plugs you'd definately hear a missfire.... could be a clogged cat. I dunno... it sounds like something computer/electrical. Ignition coil? I doubt it would be the AF or O2 sensors.

When I had my M20, I had a high idle, and it took me a while to figure it out... all it was was the throttle cable had wiggled it's self out of the bracket on top of the manifold... I clipped it back in and zip tied it back onto the bracket (right at the butterfly for the throttle body).
