okay, yes, it sounds kinda like a thermostat, but if the top hose is hot, there's gotta be coolant flowing through the thermostat, so if anything, it's only partially stuck closed/open. Fan clutch may be suspect. Change the Thermostat first... or run it without one for a day like Graham said...

CPS... crank position sensor? No spark, no ground strap from the block to the chassis?

It's more than likely that it's the guide, not the tensioner. You'll have to remove the lower timing chain covers to see the chain guide. You won't see any slack just by removing the valve cover. Before you tackle that, make sure it's not you fan blades rubbing the fan shroud, or something...

I've gone with the same size you have (205/50R15) but it's been so long since I've been on 14's, other than on my mom's e30, but it has old suspension, and it's really only had winter tires on it when I drive it, so it doesn't really help me. I have used a few different tire brands on my car...

My ode's are actually kilometers. Not sure how to convert it to odes though. My tachometer actually measures revolutions per minute, even though it should measure tackies, and my speedometer is actually in km/h, not actual speed units like in the UK, where you speak a different...
