I've never heard of this being a well known problem with the M30. Who told you it's leaking? Externally, or are you burning it off, or is it going into your coolant?

Actually, I would suggest using your factory E30 engine harness engine harness with the M30... you'll need to lengthen some wires for injectors, but that way it'll hook right up to the chassis harness.

A little high, $70 for the bearing, $10 for line, 2 1/2 hrs for labour.

Factory shops, with technicians, not mechanics... Private specialty shops are plentiful around here for VW/Audi, Volvo, BMW, Jaguar, etc. and never cost as much as dealerships, and don't do the job properly anyways.

Get a measurement on the bearing and on that lip. Too bad the old one wasn't in there to compare... I would think that it would stop once it hits the lip... other wise, it's not that hard to pull back out again (might cost you the bearing) ...maybe Cliff will pipe up here with the answer.
