VANOS once and for all!

Ok, I've tried searching but a lot of threads have differnet dates. I want to know when VANOS and double VANOS was introduced on the E36 six cylinder models. From what I could gather, VANOS was intorduced in '94 and double-VANOS in '96. Is this correct?

Summary of BMW models here. This talks about VANOS starting in 1993 (I thought it was 94...) . No info on double VANOS....
