Triple Tone w/o Error

Hey guys... Just found your forum, and I am hoping you can help me out. My 93 325i is making three tones at seemingly random times when I am driving. It is not frequent, but it happens almost everytime I am driving lately. I have the full onboard computer, but I am not getting an error message, and no other idiot lights are complaining. I called the dealer and asked one of the guys in Service, but he didn't know.

If you've an idea, please let me know! I want to take care of my baby!

Thanks,

-Joe

The first thing that comes ot mind is the reminder thing. Next time you drive her look and see if you have this little sound symbol where the time is displayed, if you do, I am right. It is the memo feature, it reminds you of things like for example a news report that goes on every hour at some odd minutes. To use it, press and hold the memo button, you will be able to input a two digit number which will be the minutes of an hour, every hour it will beep.

Well, I have not set any alerts, but I will check the OBC next time I hear the tones. There was nothing on the display, but I didn't look for icons around the clock.

I went and checked and it does give out three tones with little interval in between them so it is it. The previous owner probably set it and you just happened to drive at that time now, or a passenger of yours pressed the Memo button or you by mistake, who knows. Anyway, just press the memo button and you will see this icon around the cclock/date dissapear. Enjoy the car.

That's it

It was the memo alert. I accidentally turned it on when I was reseting trip/fuel meters after a fill up. Heh. Silly me. Now that I know about that, I may use it to my advantage. It seems to go off at 1 to the hour. Pretty convenient knowing that at times.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response!

Your welcome. Also, as I said, you can set it to go off at a different time, you set the minutes and it goes off something like 15 seconds before the time you set it to.

It is very convinient, you can sleep in the car or better yet read without getting distracted every so often by looking at the clock. I used to use that all the time when meeting somebody and feeling sleepy or something.
