My 2004 325 xi wagon had the steptronic transmission replaced last Thursday because of the well documented problem.

The dealer service technician knew about the problem and commented BMW have a service bulletin regarding the issue.

Replacement done in 1 day

we have had cold weather since then, this morning it was around 8 degrees.

the problem has not recurred !!!!!

fingers crossed the new transmission solved the defect

I know your fingers are crossed......and you might want to cross your toes too.....but I wouldn't consider the "problem solved" until 4-6 months have elapsed with your new tranny.

Mine didn't start slipping until I had the car 4 months......did your's do it from day 1?

Gawd I hope the new trannys fix the prob........

That might have been because it didn't become apparent until the weather cooled off a bit.

Well I am not sure about that. The first time mine slipped it wasn't especially cold, and it has slipped ever since. Do they not slip in the summer? Me thinks they do.

Here's an observation: Now that it has started slipping, it will slip if it's 50 or 80 degrees.
