hey i have a 1992 bmw 325 with a manual gearbox. last year after like 11 years the nice leather shifter knob started becomming lose and turing around. my bmw dealer wasnted like 95 for a new leather but only 20$ for a new one in vinyl that looked exzactly the sameexcept had a tacky vinyl feel . now after a bout a year, its happening on this one, is it because i got a cheapass 20$ knob ? does anyone know where i can get a good knob for not too much price. it doesnt have to be flashy or anything or even be bmw or have the shift pattern on it, it jsut needs to fit bmw withteh snap on snap off technique, maybe some of you have changed it for looks and could offer me some advice of which to buy or if any of you ha teh same problem.

I have the same problem, except on a hard 1-2 shift, the knob blows off the top of the shifter and ends up in the back seat somewhere. I have a '92 as well.

I think its partly the engine, those straight sixes make some sweet sounds. But it is by far very unique. I love the sound oif it in parking garages, just echoing..... ahhhh....

My buddy has a '93 and his is prefectly quiet, just like the new ones, so I dont know. You are hearing my exhaust with new valves, new exhaust cam, some head work and hollowed out cats.
