Hello all,
my 1995 325 is is lacking power. I found out that it is running on only five of the six cylinders, so i changed the coils and plugs. the problem continued. I then heard that it could be the dme, so i bought a used dme for an E 36. When i put the dme in the car runs even worse. What do i do. Do I need the let it idle for a while to let the computer reset? do i need to get the dme reprogrammed? Right now i am lost, if any one can help please do.

Did you check to see that you are getting spark to the bad cylinder?

If you are getting spark, you need to consider other issues:
- Is the spark plug wet? This will tell you if you are getting fuel into the cylinder (bad injector)
- If you have fuel and spark, then do a compression test on the cylinder.

If you are not getting spark:
- Check the primary side of the coil to see if you are getting the low voltage trigger from the DME.

I am not getting any spark. I do not think that i am getting the low voltage trigger. It is only the number 2 cylinder that is doing this. Why?

The DME is defective. If you look closely at your DME the last numbers will either end in 402 or 403. Guess how I know about this?? Also, you know that wire that grounds itself on the thermostat housing? Make sure it's grounded because if it isn't it will fry every DME you install....AGAIN, ASK ME HOW I KNOW!
