My boy, Chop-Chop managed to tilt the seatback in my car back and forth to the point that it has now expired and it is in the "permanently reclined" position. My friend, Cupcake thinks this is cool, as now it makes it more of a "Playa ride", but I don't think so. Does anyone here know how to fix this? do you need to tear the seat completely out of the thing, or is there a simpler way to access the guts of the thing?

Pretty much all the electronics are tucked under neath the seat (at least in mine they are) so I'd guess it would be a lot easier to assess the damage if you remove the seat. The only hard part in removing the seat is lifting it out of the car without scratching anything. There are two nuts up front and 2 bolts in the back, after that all you have to do is disconnect the electrical connections and lift it out of the car. I read somewhere that there are some cennections you have to carefully take care off before moving the seat anywhere but on mine it was just regular connectors. just in case check out a DIY on how to take the seat out, there should be one on the following site: http://www.geocities.com/e36rulz/DIY.html

Hope this helps and you get it fixed.

Thanks, Andre-
I did pull the seat out and yes, managed to put a gouge in the plastic door trim. Very nice indeed.... Couldn't ID a problem, except maybe with the motor. Am going to take it to a shop and have them do it, because I don't want to screw with it anymore. Thanks for the info though, much appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Looks like they skimped on these used the plastic where metal should have gone. This also looks like a huge pain trying to take apart all of that stuff. This is why I hate power accessories. I love the car, but really don't need a 6-way adjustable power seat. Again, thanks for the info - much appreciated!

If you just want to put the seat back up and not worry about fixing it right now, you should be able to do it manually. THis happened to a buddy of mine on a cross country trip, only to his driver's seat. We took out the side panel and "locked" it so it would not be fully reclined.

"Cupcake." I think I'll name my first child after this wonderful confectionary.

I tried to figure out how to get the seat back up, but I couldn't. Maybe I'm retarded. The thing is going to a shop tomorrow, for a variety of things that I just dont have the know-how/patience/facilities to deal with. Looking to be a bad day for the pocketbook. If you are going to name yr firstborn Cupcake, here are some things to consider:

Cupcake does not suffer fools.
Cupcake does as she pleases.
Cupcake calls the shots.
Cupcake rolls hard.
Cupcake don't roll that way.
Cupcake will kick yr balls.
Cupcake is fair but shows no mercy.
Cupcake don't play that.

BAHAHAHA!! That's funny...it even made my day. My favorite is "Cupcake rolls hard." I just like the way that sounds.

Sorry you gotta take your car somewhere; it always sucks when you don't have the time/ patience to do it...especially when it comes time to pay the mechanic.

Good luck.
