No Reverse!

I own a 2000 323 with Steptronic transmission and recently when I place the car in reverse nothing happens! It's like it's in neutral.

Any ideas out there?

Welcome to the forum.
That is a pretty odd problem. How long do you leave it in Reverse for, until you decide it's just not working? Do you try pressing the gas or tapping on the brakes?

ouch....that is aweful. how can you manuver? or even park? ouch

i never heard of that problem before. could be an electronic failure only in my books. you have to step on the break to put the tranny in R correct? so that can´t be the mistake. strange.
you should stop at a dealer to get it chekced, unless of course one of our memebers knows the story ...

My 2000 330i StepTronic has just developed the same problem. Did you get the problem resolved? What was the solution (do I need to speak to the bank manager)?
