Issue with steptronic or not a problem?

I have one issue with the steptronic and that is when the car has sat overnight and is cold I back out of the garage OK then when I step on the gas to move forward the revs increase to about 2000 rpm before the car moves.

Once the car has been driven (fluids start to circulate?) this doesn't happen again.

Is this a problem I should get checked out or is it something that is "normal"?

I don't notice this in my new Z4 which also has steptronic.

TIA

Kevin

You definitely need to read the thread listed in the previous post...

The transmission issue you describe is a widespread defect that BMW is correcting by completely replacing the transmission. We have the same issue on a 4-wk old 330CiC.
After I reported having the problem and finding threads in several forums on this subject to my sales rep., he and the sales manager went onto their lot and found at least two cars with the problem.

On the plus side, most dealers, including mine, are being very responsive in dealing with the issue.
