I would want a Mini if....

The reason I'd never own a Civic (no offense) is because of the interior. I must admit that I've grown quite attached to leather sport seats and Germanic interior styling, when we rented one down in Florida (2001 Civic) it was spacious but not very comfortable in my opinion.

mrferg, if you think BMW has a nice interior (which they do), sit inside a new Audi A4. Any pictures you may have seen of the new A4's interior do not do justice until you sit inside one for yourself. VW actually has a surprisingly nice interior for their price...the blue and red lights (especially for the gauges) are so much fun to look at !!!
bahnstormer, I definitely agree with you, the pictures of that black Mini that you posted really kick ass...it is a sweet-looking Mini. My only problem with it is the small wheels. In the article, they said they went with 15" wheels because they wanted to continue the Mini's tradition of having small wheels. I agree with that, but I feel the new Mini looks a lot sharper with 16" or 17" wheels as they encourage its sort of "bulky" appearance.
The reason I am all into this Mini is because after the lease of my G35C ends, I want to purchase my own car all on my own. I have already started saving my pennies and I truly want the M4 (assuming it will be out when the G35C lease is over). But the M4 is going to cost like $65K to $75K and speaking realistically, there is no way I'll be able to afford that on my own. I feel that the Mini is a very affordable car that offers the German driving pleasure that we all know and love...plus it has many tuning options. [fake]

i went and romped in my grandfathers after watching that movie, you really can drive them down stairs, no just kidding but fun none-the-less. I still want to make a MINI WRC, real nice rally suspension set up, 6-speed sequential, AWD, or RWD or Electronical Differentials with power/torque settings by way of very expensive computer hook up. awsome cage, lightened to overhead compartment weight, awsome exhuast system, just go all out putting everything you possibly can, i think that would be bad ass cause i really want to take a rally car to some street race only first im gonna sand blast the paint off and let it rust a little on the outside so it looks like a POS till you tach it up what 8,9 grand? and let off the button and off you go into sequential 6speed acceleration land. the look on thier face as this rusted POS / F-16 for the street/dirt takes off at mach 5.

they do get the attention of high school girls, either they never seen one before or they think its cute. But id take an Mini S over an M3 and with the extra money id tune it to 230-250 range and go all out and go terrorize the streets. Cause nothing is more fun than imasculating someone in a far inferior car, but they dont know that the one behind them isnt exactly inferior anymore, hell my grandfathers Mini has more hp than his race car, and it used to have more hp than my car and its got like 35hp less than my uncles M2 as he calls it, S14 powered 2002tii. So Minis are contenders and really cool as long as they have something on them thats makes them different from every other mini on the planet. Like my unlces orange 200+hp mini. And the BMWCCA mini rungroup sponsor decals everywhere so this mini is either running from the cops, or about to be running from the cops. Hell with Numbers and Event winner stickers on it im suprised they dont give him a pack of blank tickets and say mail them t us at the end of every week.

my buddy and i went and test drove one. the light weight made the car a hoot to drive, and the super charger sound at the upper rev ranges was pretty cool. def not a fast car, but quick enough, and the light weight makes it fun to toss around. but highway ride was quite harsh.

after the test drive, for the first time, my car actually felt heavy. not bad for 20k, but i'd rather get a rsx typeS or something for that price.

Bleh, an RSX Type-S? That seems like more car for the price, but you can get DVD navigation, Harman Kardon stereo system, Panoramic sunroof, and all that other crap. The RSX Type-S is like the definition of a rice-burner's dream car.

is the John Cooper works an aftermarket tune or is a BMW approved upgrade like Dinnan?
I live in a congested area where parking is a problem. I can shoehorn my 330i into pretty tight spots, but who wants to risk the inevitable bumber bashes on a 40K car? A cool fast mini might be a good choice for me next time around.

I've followed the mini's prduction since i heard that they were redesigning it. I drove it three days before it went on sale and i have to say that the reactions i was getting were not as promising as i hoped. But it grew on people as well as many of my friends. I know people that said they wouldn't be caught dead in one, and after i take them for a ride they want to go and buy one. It really is an incredible machine. As for the john Cooper Works kit it is aftermarket and runs about 5500 but its well worth it. I highly recommend the cars and email me if you want some info on them. Long live John Cooper.

I think the 16 year old girls are driving civic's w/ big rice can mufflers...I would take a Mini any day over a civic but I think I will just stick with a 3 series and just keep upgrading parts and vehicles, they seem to be the overall package.

It seems like a lot of you guys changed your minds about the Mini when you finished watching The Italian Job.

Looks like Mini achieved their goal in promoting that car in the movie- but don't believe them! The Mini won't bring you any chicks! jk
