Hey guys,
Got a good deal on eBay, I thought. (4) used 18x8.5" ADR?? BBSs RX-II style wheels w/ tires, $750 SHIPPED !!! Ok, Put 'em on and i was rubbing on the rears. B/G info '96 328is w/ H&R Sport springs 1.4 drop front, 1" rear and other misc basics(see signature). I jacked the car up one corner at a time to put them on myself, seemed to go ok. I had to raise the rear pass. corner 3 times, on the 3rd i heard a cracking noise on the way back down [:(!] from that point on it has rubbed. I started w/ 4 wheel alignment and balancing, no go. I was told my shock was bad, so I call up BavAuto and dropped like $500 on a full set on Bilstein Sports at all 4 corners! I think the problem is solved, nope. Keep in mind, its ONLY the rear pass. side. I am pissed cuz i had to put 1" rubber spacers in the rear springs so it was driveable, car looks stock again [bigcry] IT STILL RUBS ON A BUMP, and i cant even think about take 2 passengers anywhere... at all [?|] HELP!!!!!

Rolling your fenders is going to give you some clearance, but that does not address why one side is lower than the other, or is it? Have you put the car on a level surface and measured the clearance on all fours? Do this, and if the right rear is lower than the rest you either have a spring that is not seated (like the left rear) or a cracked spring (crackling noise)? This is one reason I avoid H&R's, but that is hind sight. Do you have a Discount Tire shop in the area, they are good at this.

I have 18's on my 328i and i get some rubbing also. But, i have learned to load my golf clulbs in the back seat and the electric cart in the trunk with the battery. Now, when my wife is in the passenger seat i also get some wheel rub on the right rear wheel aslo. She only weights in at 120 at 5'8". So the only advice i can offer is to suggest you put on your brakes before hitting those dips in the road.

I had 16 inch MSW rims on my 318is and the tire was 225 50z 16 and i use to get rubbing on rear passenger side tire on big dips and bumps but i guess it was because of the speed, I have 18 inch chrome rims on my car now with a 225 40z 18 tire and i havent gotten any rubbing, i think it might be because i dont go as fast on turns and bumps anymore due to the rims

i have same problem on my '99 m3 vert only it is my left rear (drivers side) that does the rubbing only over certain bumps. it is intermitant. it seems lower on the left than ont he right as well. i have my fenders rolled and the car has 235/35/r19's on it. the rims look great but i cant figure out for the life of me how to fix this issue. i just wanted to lift the rear end a little. to fix the problem but cant find any springs that are taller and just as stiff for these cars. anyone have any ideas?? also where did you get those 1 inch spring pad inserts? that may work. oh yeah and my springs aren't broken or cracked or anything. ay help would be greatly apreciated since it makes it very hard to drive the car in massachusetts with all the pot holes and bumpy roads.
