I just had a DINAN exhaust installed onto my 325i, and have planned to get the air-intake, throttle body, and software another time until my budget allows me. I had the exhaust installed first because I was craving for a livelier sound. But I must say I’m disappointed to the sound coming out of my DINAN exhaust. I wanted a better sounding exhaust that was not loud but yet noticeable and civilized. My DINAN exhaust sounded lame.

I expressed my disappointment to the BMW dealer that installed my exhaust, and he mentioned that it would sound much throatier once I have the DINAN cold air intake, throttle body, and software installed. I’m no mechanic but it sounds logical, and I did originally plan to have it installed. But never the less I’m now skeptical if I should proceed to complete my modifications with DINAN.

Fellow Beamers… I ask for your words of wisdom. Should I proceed with DINAN or go with other air-intake systems? Will any cold-air intake even improve my DINAN exhaust sound?

A cold-air intake will give your engine a throatier sound. But you should have quite a deeper sound already with just your exhaust. The cold air intake does not make the engine that much louder, but it changes the tone of the engine to something more sporty. Pesronally, I think all the Dinan products are a rip-off, and you should have gone with other companies' air intake and exhaust. But now that you have started with Dinan, finish with Dinan (and get the cool badge). [thumb]

DINAN

If I'm not mistaken I think you are refering to the DINAN badge. And at first I was not certain as well if you were kidding me or giving me a hard time. But I checked e-bay and someone is attempting to sell a DINAN 5 badge for $450.... yikes! But another seller has a current bid for $51 for his DINAN 3 badge. Which still sounds a bit much for me. As for me we dont need no stinking badges... just kidding. Actually the DINAN badge is kool looking.

But back to the subject. I'm still not totally convinced if I should finish off my exhaust system with DINAN. Any recommendation on other intake systems that will complement my DINAN exhaust sound? Or should I just take this as a very expensive learning experience/mistake, and consider just starting all over again?
