Bent Rim on my 330!! What should I do?

I hit a pot hole at about 60 mph about a month ago, and as a result, my nice sports package 17" inch rim got dented. I had another wheel and tire in the trunk so I just replaced it, but Im wondering what my best option is. How much will another wheel and tire, or each one cost me? Where is the best place for me to get it? Should I just try and fix the rim and use it as a spare?

Just want some opinions.

Depending on how bad it is, most wheels can be repaired to new condition for about $70.

tires should be fine, and you could probably be able to fix the rims.

call around for local tire shops and ask around. depending on the damage, they might buy your rims from you and give you credit towards a refurb of the same rim.

but if you have a 330i w/ sports package, aren't the fronts and the rears different sizes? and you only get a doughnut spares, rather than a full size? or so i thought anyway..

Silver330, there is a G35 Coupe driver in NJ who scratched his rim and got it fixed somewhere in NJ. I will try to find out where he got it fixed and I will PM you the info.

In this information age a good phonebook will help. Try your BMW dealer - ask who they use to repair wheels. That's how I found someone to repair one of my wheels.

Just do what I did... Extend my warrenty to 6 years 100,000 miles. Then they added tires and rims warrenty... Sound good???

How much did that cost. I have 8k miles until my warranty runs out. The service warranty already ran out on my car....

Just replaced one

I had the same problem with my 2003 18" rim, it cost a total of $600.00, $525 for the rim, $50, to mount and balance and the rest was taxes. Good luck!

Thanks for those web sites. But I am in New Jersey, so I am figuring that PA is a little far to be taking my bent rim to.

You can send it to them, it will cost about $40 to ship without the tires.

the 6 year 100,000 mile warrenty was a little over $2,000. But it's worth it if you ask me. I drive a lot, and wouldn't like for my warrenty to expire..

The tires and wheels are included in the extended warrenty.. I just bought a 2004 330XI with Sport Package, and I scraped a curb, so two wheels are a little scraped. So I went back to the dealorship, and talked to the financing guy, and got the warrenty. In a week I am going to get the rims replaced to not look too suspicious getting the warrenty and then saying that I need to replace two rims.

With an extended warrenty, and tire and wheel's included, does $2,000 seem all that much???

that's a good question, i like the extended warrantys, and seems like the likes of bmw and lexus are selling it as an added option, but i'm not sure..

it's almost like buying a 3 year warranty for those cell phones and such at best buy, paying $60 is a lot, but is good when you have issues, but chances are you won't.. and nice luxu cars shouldn't have much issues before 100k, that's why they are expensive to begin with! imo..

but if yer already cashing in on the warranty, hey there ya go.

I agree with you. I mean obviously extended warranties are good if you know something is going to go wrong with your product, but the chances are greater that it won't, so if something does, you are better off just paying for it.

luxury cars shouldn't fail before 100K miles, but that sure as hell ain't true for the E46 and most Mercedes cars. Reliability on Mercedes is slowly but surely nosediving. On our cars, the window regulators and moonroof tends to fail at an abnormally high rate. That can get expensive if you constantly have to replace them.

Like I said, it depends on how badly its damaged. If its a slight bent then it would cost around $70. $40 is the cost of shipping it one-way. They will charge you an extra shipping fee to ship it back.

Unless they are chrome, the prices are set as a standard rate, so it doesn't matter what type of wheels they are.

TSilver330Ci, I just sent a private message to the G35 owner in NJ, hopefully he will get back to me quickly. Usually these rim repairs never cost more than $100 and they don't charge more or less based on the manufacturer's rim...only how much damage there is, and usually it is just one flat rate of $70-$100 anyways, depending on the place.
Have you tried calling up a BMW dealership? Usually, service departments have a list of places to go to for issues such as yours.

The guy got back to me. There are no places in NJ that do this. The closest place is in Long Island:

He has a 24-hour turn-around time. So you would have to drop the rim off and then pick it up. I believe you can ship him the rim, also. I don't know how much he charges; just call him up to find out.
