im a noob... but my 1993 325is randomly beeps 3 times while im driving occasionally. i wondered if it might be something with the gas levels?? i dont see any lights on in the signal/notification area of the dash... any ideas?
Tempature sensor. When the temps drop below freezing you will get a beep , or it could be the memo function on your clock/obc. I believe if you hit the memo button it will stop.
Hi there,
Big Daddy is right. It is an ice warning, but it warns you at about 3 degrees C (because bridges and elevated structures freeze more easily than surface roads).

gee whizz, thank you guys! I always wondered what the three beeps were. (sounds like a censored cheer or some thing )
i never found that information in the manual.
i will now have to pay attention to see how consistent and accurate it is.
my car did that too a couple of months ago. i was driving home around 12am and it was freaking cold- something like 30º+ outside. pretty cold for southern cali at least.

you have no idea how good that makes me feel right now. i was worried something was messed up. this makes sense though since it has only done it while i am driving to work in the early morning cold (on the free way). Thanks guys!
Just a couple days ago my car started doing the same exact thing. I've had this car for 8 years and it never did that before. It's NOT the "ice warning" beep. It's always done that. I did notice that it does it every hour, on the hour. I must have hit a button on the OBC. Don't know. I'll try messing with the OBC.
