My E34 felt like that when I would go around a curve in the road... rear wheel bearing was going for a walk. My advise would be to jack the car up and give all the wheels a good shake and see if any of them wobble. I wasn't able to hear my rear bearing fail (no humming), but it certainly made my wheel sit at a nasty negative camber, and wobbled like crazy.

wandering left and right

I am still within the first 100 miles of driving my new car, and it wanders all over the place. It seems worse when i am on rough roads, and hit bumps. Is that a characteristic of the sportier suspension I am not used to.

I have been driving a Mercedes with Bilstein comforts....

It happens at low and high speeds, but really not over 50-60....
