Hello everybody in my first post.
I need some help with my sunroof. I have a new switch in it, so I don't know what happens. Sunroof sometimes works, sometimes don't. Now, with the new switch, I can see the light of the switch when it works, no light when it doesn't work. So maybe it's a electrical problem, but where is it??... The sunroof seems to works better in colder temperature (at night for example).....
Any opinions???
Thanks people

i think your issue might be either a cold solder connection or crappy switch. i was also wondering if i can use a 5 series switch that has the 1 touch auto feature so i can tap once and go. anyone ever try this?

Sounds like the Comfort Relay broke, you have the same symptoms I had before I replaced mine. There only $20 from the dealer and it's located under the body panel right under the steering wheel. Do a look up on some of other forums for "Comfort Relay" there should be some writeups to help you choose which one it is. Don't worry, it's real easy to change this part.

If your strapped for cash you can always try to fix the relay, I found the instruction for it right here Comfort Relay
Even if you want to replace the part like I did you can use the above link for instructions on how to get access to that part. Enjoy.

I am looking for a motor for my roof and a head liner too, if anyone knows where there might be one around? :) My roof worked a lil bit last summer, but now its way not working.

I am having a similar sunroof problem. It started off working intermittently and now it does not work at all. I read some bullitins that pointed at the comfort relay. I checked the comfort relay (I opened up, and checked all the points for continuity with a multimeter) and it seems fine. I then check the power cable going into the relay (think Red one) - there does not appear to be any power going into it. If I connect a wire to the battery and connect it directly to the comfort relay 'power in' wire, the roof now works.

The basic wiring diagram I have says that this wire goes back into the main fuse box again - the problem is - I cannot get the fuse box base open. I remove the 4 screws and it won't budge??

Any ideas or am I looking in the wrong place completly?

My car is a 93 318is E36 (right hand drive)
