The origional Minis were british, right? and the new ones are BMW, so theyre german... Are the new mini's considered British or German cars? Maybe just "European"? [headbang]

Technically it's German car since it's German owned, but they're built in Oxford England so it still carries a lot of British heritage.

Same deal with Ford and Jaguar.

Assembled, I'm sure the parts came from a variety of places.

and thank god ford bought land rover. bmw never really wanted to dump a ton of money into that company, and at least now ford has come in and bumped the quality/reliability of those cars

?

In my opinion would determine whom desighned the MINI, a Brit or a german. Like the new enzo ferrari, car was designed by a Japanese desighner, If he was born in Italy it would be fine but if you look at the new enzo it looks very Japanese. Its a beautiful car but not Italian. I would say the same for the MINI. I wouldnt however compare BMW and the Ford Jaguar situation. Jaguar is still desighned and ran by the brits. The MINI is a cool car but it aint a mini. thats like calling a Royal Enfield Chief and Indian (MOtorcycle entusiests will get that)

BMW designed the new Range Rover but as BMW is known for not being the most financially stable, right before production, the numbers didn't quite add up so BMW dumped production onto Ford.
The new MINI's pack motors from Chrysler/Mercedes, although the car was developed by BMW.

yeah, when i opened the hood of a N/a MINI, i noticed a large similarity between that motor and a dodge neon motor.epj3 is right about it being a daimler-benz engine.
