"phone" error on radio

My m3 is having a wierd problem the radio only displays PHONE and it cant be changed by any means and nothing comes out of the speakers. its a 1998 m3 im not sure if it had the factory phone in it.

i was reading around on other fourms and sites and most of them said to cut wire #4 because it is for the phone out, so when i find the right tool (im at the lake right now,not too many hardware stores around here) to take the headunit out i will try that.

what do you guys think? any one know of a wiring diagram on the internet of the wiring harness of the stereo that would help alot. Thanks

#4 is a white/brown wire. its the phone connector(according to the bentley manual). good luck with that.

Thanks, this evening im going up to the bmw dealer ship, i cant find a f**king pentagon tool it doesnt exsist, anyways i need a new hood roundle.

yay i fixed it i cut the wire #4 and it worked fine. it has the Harmon Karmon sound system, OMFG its so wounder full. im falling more in love with this car every day
