Wow!

I just purchased a used 2002 certified 330i. Wow, this car handles like no other.
I'm glad I made the buy and look forward to learning more over BMW and this car since I'm coming over from Honda.

I have some questions:

I'm not to familiar with the whole maintainance process how does that work?
I mean do you have to take it in at certain times or it voids BMW warranty?

Can you change the alarm to beep or flash lights when you lock the doors?
I have nice rims on the car right now but I would like nicer ones ps my car is silver
any recommendations?

Any tricks to the gadgets and what up with the phone thing the manual did not really go into detail?

Welcome aboard,

BMW covers maintenance for the first 3yr/36k miles. On the newer models it comes with 4yr/50k. If you purchased the extended plan, I believe its 6yrs/100k. You're supposed to take it in roughly every 15k miles for service, however if its something you want to keep for a long time, I'd suggest you take it in every 7,000 miles and pay for it out of pocket.

Yes, you can program the clown nose to blink in addition to the flashing lights.

Thank you guys.

I guess I need to look through the manual to figure out exactly how to program the lights to blink when I arm the alarm.

Every 7k mile whew that's pretty often but it's an investment I might take.
And I did take the extended maintainance offer so I'm good.

I will post up pics as soon as possible. WOOOOOOOHOOOOO!

welcome aboard Jo!!!

like many said before me, you have to take it to the dealer to get the lock signal to work. you prolly don't have the bmw alarm, so only thing you can turn on is the blinking lights when you lock(once)/unlock(twice). you can also program the day time running lights at the dealership. (if you are looking into that.) i thought the clown nose was always blinking.. hmmm..

there isn't a lot of options for the dealer to program as per your request, but some are more useful than others.

as for voided warranty, if you don't takethe car in for maint, and the said part breaks, it won't be convered under the warranty, due to owner negligence.

hey jo, welcome aboard. me too, i had the dealer program my lights blink when i open/close the car. sometimes that´s the only way to check whether the car is closed or not. the locks work so quitely that i tend not to hear it. the lights remind me then.

have fun with the car dude [thumb]

Hmmm...I think I have the alarm. Isn't the red little thing below the rear view mirror the alarm? I was viewing the video that comes along with the car and it said that you can press down the trunk button to go into panic mode if I'm not mistaken. what's up with the auto glass roll down how does that work. It even has path way lighting.. Man, my mouth was all open when I was watching the vid this car is packet with cool gadgets. the only thing I was not impressed with was the navi turning that knob would drive me crazy. It looked old too.

So that brings me to some new questions does anyone have a aftermarket navi that they use in their car? What about XM satellite does anyone Delphi XM2go in there car and how is it?

Anyone know how much the dealership charges to activate the light-blink for the door locks?

I'd love this done to mine, as someone else said, mine are SO quiet. I have to keep walking back to check.

It should be about $40-50 or a 30 minute charge.

It cost me $37 to have them program the signal light blink, clown nose, and speed sensitive locks.
