The streamlined new Mini has finally broken cover. BMW has stuck closely to the current Mini’s winning looks but these spy shots reveal the updated car will be sleeker with a more aggressive nose and grille.
The German company has overseen a reversal of fortunes at Mini since it acquired the much-loved British marque in 1994 as part of a controversial takeover of Rover. The current model, built in Cowley, Oxfordshire, went on sale in 2001 and last year clocked up more than 200,000 sales worldwide.

The new Mini, which the company hopes will continue the brand’s revival, will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September before it arrives in showrooms next year.

The sporty Cooper S version will come with a 1.6 litre turbo engine developed by BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroën. The same engine, minus the turbo, will be used in the Cooper model.

An addition to the line-up will be an estate, known as the Traveller, which will feature an elongated body and van-style rear doors.
