Hello i have a 93 325I. Thie ignition switch is broken. I have removed the tumbler and the red connector on the back end. The key would just spin in the tumbler and nothing happened. What i found was the shaft that attaches the tumbler to the red connector is broken. It is an alum pc that has just broke from use i guess. I am trying to fix the broken one with jb weld. What is it called? i can't find one in any cat. I will try the BMW dealer today when they open. Anybody have a similar problem how did you fix it and what did it cost.

I called the BMW dealer thay want 160.00 for the housing, when all i need is the internal shaft (steering wheel lock) . And supposidly the housing is very hard to change . Still waiting on the JB weld to harden so i can try out the repaired shaft. Hope i got everything aligned right. There was a parting line that ran the length of the shaft and i ligned that up. Well should know in the morning if it works.

Everything back together & she fired right up. Not too hard of a fix, just pay attention to the alignment of the shaft when repairing and the alignment of the switch to the shaft when putting it back together.

thanks
george
