differential fluid in 318i

What kind of differential fluid and how much of is required for a 318i?


I have to replace my seal and gasket, and would like to have the fluid needed handy when i do it .

From what my brother told me it is a sealed unit-even checking the level is bad. If it isn't broken don't fix it. Leave it alone.
I'm only quoting what he said his mechanic said (w/out the " " s)
I haven't researched myself. Hard to believe fluid good forever, I'll leave it until it leaks. He had to replace rear end because of fluid check problems.

Have you checked with BMW? Redline makes some very good fluids-checked them? Good luck!

yeah, my diff is leaking pretty bad. i bought a new seal and gasket for it. i hope i don't have to replace the rear end.
