cleaning the engine bay

i just got a real nice maroon 318is. the engine bay really needs a good clean up. does any ody know any good tricks, cleaners. i dont want to **** anything up, body colour, get other chemicals in places they shouldn't be. any advice would be great.

simple green makes a good engine cleaner.

I find petrol works really well to clean off all the s*** in the engine bay. The only downside is that your car will smeel like petrol for a while but.... i kinda liked it!

start your engine, leave it running. put your simple green in a spray bottle, and spray your engine. rinse with a hose and indirect presure (just mist if off the compartment). works great!
