Hello,

I have a locking problem with my 1992 BMW 325i. All of the electric locks don't work. As a consiquence, I cannot get into my trunk or use the back doors because they are permenently locked. The front doors will unlock manually (i.e. using the key on the outside of the door), but won't unlock the other doors in the car. I've checked fuses and they are all good. I've heard there is a central module that controls all the locking and unlocking of the car and that could be the problem. Do you think this is the case? If so, where is this module located and do I need to replace it? Thanks for your time and expertise!

I ended up finding and pulling out the locking module. If I purchase a used one, will it need to be reprogrammed? Or for that matter, do new ones need to be programmed? Or am I barking up the wrong tree with thinking its the central locking module?

I bought a central locking module off of eBay, so hopefully that will clear up the problem. Otherwise, I don't really know what else to do other than take it to a shop. Bleh, I have the feeling thats gonna cost an arm and a leg.

As far as i know, the remotes will have to be programed into the new module. A long shot guess is maybe there is an issue with the c/locking motor in the drivers side door. The one in there is a master actuator and the ones in the rear doors and boot ( sorry this is U.S.A. not AUS......TRUNK) are slave's. IT may not be sending a signal to the module to tell it to unlock the rest of the car. That happened in my car. To be honest....i'm not really sure, just taking some stabs in the dark. let us know what the problem was when you fix it.

I don't have keyless entry, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'll let you know how I get it fixed. I'm thinking that if its not the central locking module, I might just have to take it to a local place that services BMW's and see what they have to say. Its quite annoying not to have a trunk or rear doors in a car that the seats don't fold forward. [:p]

The central locking module made no difference. I've heard that a wire in the trunk harness can also cause problems with the central locking. Do you think that it could cause the whole system to not function at all? Any other ideas on what might be causing this?

iv also been having absolute living hell with the central locking system, and many of sleepless nights
on the advise of a specialist,i took the door panels off for search of mechanisms, with no joy,i then proceeded to take the dashboard out with the removement of 1/4"8 titanium screws(phillips screwdriver required),still no luck with motors or mechanisms, just as i was about to give up,i was advised to take out carpet, which i spent most of the night in the rain doing so,,i rang rover but they could not help,,!!!
anyway to cut a long story short,it found out to be that i needed a new batterie for the remote,,hope this could be of help to you,
