black or grey leather?

Which one stands up best over time? I have a friend with black leather in his 325 and you can see every little scuff or scrape. My other friend has grey leather in his car (non BMW) and there are parts that look dirty and a pen mark that stands right out.

Anyone have any opinions or advise on this?

BTW: I'm getting a silver grey 33cic with aluminum trim. I think either grey or black leather will go nicely. Although I'm also concerned that black will collect to much heat.

OK i think i'm starting to obsess... Guess i'm at the right place for that [:)]

It depends on how you take care of it, my black leather interior still looks brand new after 3 years.

On thing I don't like about the lighter interior is that you can easily see the dirt and grease on the carpet.

My vote goes for black interior.

Without a doubt go with black!!!! Just the ingress/egress with the gray interior will show even the slightest shoe scuff, and with the matching gray carpet- shoes, rain, snow, crushed leaves etc...get all over the carpet (even if you have rubber weather mats).

If the black leather gets a little scuff on it, some water and a micro fiber cloth cleans in right away. One of the driving forces for me to get my 2004 330cic with black leather is that I could not keep cleaning the light gray interior of my new E-Class on a bi-weekly basis (no joke...it was that hard to keep clean).

Once you go black, you ain't ever going back [cheers]

The gray leather and carpeting in mine (about 10 months old) hasn't had any of the problems stated above, mainly because I keep it clean. Didn't go with black because the interior seemed too dark and felt the gray looked better with a white exterior.

I also have not experienced any of the above problems with my gray leather. I clean my leather about every 3 months and it looks and smells brand new. I have had the car 10 months. I also thought the gray looked better against my light exterior. My previous experiences with anything black on a car (exterior or interior, I have had both) is that it is near impossible to keep clean.

Also for me black is impossibly hot as I live in central FL, that would not be an issue in Michigan tho.

Go gray. You will be thankful when the sun is beating down on that leather with the top down.

As for cleanliness, just wipe it down once in a while and it will be fine.

You have one sweet convert there. Really an awesome color combo, and I don't usually like grey interiors. Can you post some pictures of the interior?

I love my gray interior with only the gray all weather floor mats showing any kind of marks so far (of course they can be replaced easily). Keep it clean and I think you will be happy with either one though. I never smoke, drink, or eat in my car to help keep the new car smell and to keep it looking new.

I agree.

BTW we have the same set-up. [wave]

This is largely personal opinion---I don't think there are any significant practical advantages of one of the other. Personally, I think black leather looks much better, but that's just my opinion. Also, I've had both black leather and tan leather, and I have not noticed that the black gets any hotter in the sun than the tan. But I can't speak for black pleather, tho.

I just bought a 330i titanium silver with black leather. I looked at the same car with gray interior and it just didn't seem right. My previous car had a tan interior so I was tired of that middle ground shade. Especially with aluminum trim I think the black offsets it better. I haven't notice any extra heat yet but summers right around the corner. Good luck!

I have the gray leather in my silver grey 330i w/ZHP. I my opinion a black interior in this car would be too much black since my headliner is also black. I did go with the black cube interior trim tho and I like it. One thing I did have changed at the time of pick up at the dealer were the floor mats that came with the car. I went with black mats. The leather should be treated every 3 months anyway but I have had no problems even with a 4 year old grandson (lives with us) and car seat in the car. With the car seat however I place a fabric barrier between the car seat and the leather, just in case.

I wanted grey leather originally on my Titanium Silver 325ci but ended up with black. Looking back now, I'm really glad I got black. With the aluminum trim, the black shows a greater contrast. The aluminum blends in too much with the grey leather. Plus, the carpet doesn't show dirt at all. And, it looks the sportiest.

Heat would have been a problem but I got special tint to handle it. How hot does it get in Michigan? Leather of any color is gonna conduct heat anyways.

Titanium Silver, Black Leather, Black Trim... great contrast... 36k miles and seats look beautiful...

Texas heat is the worst... so far, my black leather hasn't been as bad as I thought it was going to be... I vent the car before I get in... and i'm good to go...
